It makes me feel good to paint. I paint because that is what I do and what I am - an artist. I have been painting since childhood and continue to explore and learn with each new painting. For an artist to succeed he must love his work, work hard, and open himself to the creative spirit that lives within each of us.
Jim Dodd
Jim Dodd is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, USA who now makes his home in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of Rabun County, Georgia.
After high school graduation and a tour in the US Navy, Jim attended the High Museum School of Art in Atlanta. He then spent several years in advertising as an art director and illustrator. Dissatisfied with the field of commercial art, he left his job and began exhibiting his work as a full time painter and artist.

H is home studio and gallery is open to the public each second weekend in December during the "Christmas in Wolffork Valley" gallery tour and he also teaches a popular workshop "Freeing the Spirit" at his studio each year in October.
A versatile painter, Jim has explored many subjects and painting styles. Although he is a meticulous draftsman, his paintings are characterized by a loose, exuberant style and color. Favorite subjects are the beautiful mountain landscapes found in Appalachia and the crowded streets of the cities he visits. House portraits are another specialty.
